Description
Botanical study of lavender sorrel [Oxalis barrelieri] a plant native to central and South America. This text accompanying this illustration notes: “Patria. Caracas in America torrida. Guiana”. The plate contains two inset details of flower bud and stamens.

Nikolaus Josef Jacquin (1717-1817) Dutch botanist based in Vienna, Austria, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1788.
