Head and shoulders portrait of William Edward Parry, holding a telescope and looking off to the right as viewed,. He wears fur trimmed coat, high collared shirt and dark necktie. In an oval frame of emblematical figures with globe and vignette of an arctic scene below.
Inscribed ‘Engraved by Charles Heath from a drawing by W.H.Brooke. Pubd. Nov 24 1823 by Sherwood & Co. Paternoster Row’ and pencilled ’34 170 Capt Parry FRS. [6?]’.
Sir William Edward Parry was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1821.
