Description
Decorative book cover design based on a Japanese print telling the story of the origin of the hanging picture, or hanging scroll known as the kakemono. A Japanese domestic interior with two male figures, one an artist or calligrapher, featuring a view of Mount Fuji.

Sir Edward James Reed (1830-1906) British naval architect, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1876.
