Description
Half-length portrait of Thomas Tyrwhitt in three quarter profile to the right as viewed, seated with left arm over the back of the chair. He wears shoulder length wig and is dressed in collarless jacket.
Inscribed ‘Published by E. Baldwyn, Catherine Street. THOMAS TYRWHITT ESQR. F.R.S. Ob. 1786’ and pencilled ‘1771’.
Thomas Tyrwhitt was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1771.
