Description
Head and shoulders portrait inclined to the right as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears a pleated doublet with a lace falling collar and has mid length curly hair.
Inscribed WILLIAM CAVENDISH, THIRD EARL OF DEVONSHIRE. From a Drawing in the Possession of Edward Stanley Esqr. Published 1st March 1817 by T.Rodd 2 Gt Newport St. Long Acre’ and pencilled ‘1663’.
William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663.
