    Head and shoulders portrait of Charles Maria de La Condamine in right profile. Oval in an rectangular with an inscribed socle and decorated with a globe, books and laurel branches.

    Inscribed ‘Collection de le Beau. C.M. LE DE LA CONDAMINE lun des Quarante de lAcademie Francoise. Mort A Paris le 13 Fevier 1774 Agé de 72 Ans. Cochin Del.’

    Charles Maria de La Condamine (1701-1774) was a French explorer, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1748.
