Sir Barnes Neville Wallis (1887-1979), British aeronautical designer and military engineer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1945. He was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal in 1975 ‘in recognition of the originality of his ideas and the determination with which he has pursued them’.
