    Half-length standing portrait of Urbain Le Verrier turned slightly to the left, as viewed. He is shown in a dark jacket and waistcoat with a white shirt and black bowtie. He looks out towards the viewer with his fair hair neatly combed backwards.

    Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier (1811-1877), French astronomer, was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society in 1847.
