Description
Half length studio portrait of Bowerbank, standing with one hand resting upon a small round table on which stands a microscope, a pair of spectacles and shell specimens. Bowerbank holds an additional specimen in his left hand.
Arched gold surround, inscribed below in gold: “Photographed by MAULL & POLYBLANK, 55, Gracechurch Street and 187A Piccadilly, London.” Signed below in blue ink “J.S. Bowerbank May 1861”.
