    Plate 17, from the paper "On the different structures and situations of the solvent glands in the digestive organs of birds, according to the nature of their food and particular modes of life", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.102 (1812), pp.394-404. Internal view of the gizzard of the African ostrich, one-sixth scale. The work is inscribed above with publication and plate details and upper right "Struthio Camelus." Instructions to the engraver are also present, "This Plate to be engraved as it is, & not reversed, that it may print the reverse." Not signed. Royal Society stamp verso.
