    Description
    Half length portrait, bearded. Dressed in royal court robes, including a ruff at the neck.

    Inscribed: “From an enamel by Jas. Lee. – Painted by Thos. Phillips Esq., R.A. Engraved by H.Robinson [fl.1827-1872]. HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE AUGUSTUS-FREDERICK, DUKE OF SUSSEX, &c. K.G.-K.T.-G.C.H.-P.R.S. &c. &c. FISHER, SON & Co, LONDON, 1833.” With a specimen signature. In pencil lower left “1828” and lower right “1/-“.

    The Duke of Sussex was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1828, he served as its President from 1830 to 1838.
