    Description
Zoological study of the Desert warthog Phacochoerus aethiopicus in open countryside in Africa. A small hut and palm trees are visible behind.

Plate 2 from the book Miscellanea zoologica, quibus novae imprimis atque obscurae animalium species describuntur et observationibus iconibusque illustrantur by P S Pallas (The Hague, 1766). An explanation to the plate appears in Latin: “Aper ethiopicus, demisso capite adstans. Molem capitis monstrosam icon non ad amussim exprimit. Oculos quaque paulo propiores inter se collocare debuisset pictor.”

Inscribed above “Tab. II.”, and below “A. Schouman del. S Fokke Sc.”
