    Zoological studies of two snakes from the south-western United States of America and Mexico, with six details. Figure 1 Coluber (Ophis) Californiae the California kingsnake, or Black desert kingsnake [modern taxonomy Lampropeltis californiae]. Figure 2 C.Vertebrale (C. vertebralis) the Cape gopher snake [modern taxonomy Pituophis vertebralis]. Figures 1 A-B and 2 A-B are details of the head of each reptile. Figure 3B is a detail of the head of C. tete-plate (C.planiceps) the Westren blackhead snake [modern taxonomy Tantilla planiceps].
