    Plate 2 from Mecanique celeste. By the Marquis de la Place...translated, with a commentary, by Nathaniel Bowditch volume 4 (Boston, 1839). Inscribed below: “Engraved by G.F. Storm from a Miniature by M.E.Lalanne, in the possession of the family.” With a facsimile signature.

    Mary Bowditch (1781-1834) [née Ingersoll], was the second wife of Nathaniel Bowditch (1773-1838) American mathematician and Fellow of the Royal Society.
