Description
Marine zoological study of the shell Odontocymbiola magellanica, found in the Beagle Channel and Tierra del Fuego, South America.
Plate 8 from The zoological miscellany; being a description of new, or interesting animals, by William Elford Leach, volume 1 (London, 1815). The author describes the shell within the text: “The habitat of this very beautiful shell is not known. There is a specimen in the collection of Mr. Bullock...and another in the British Museum.”
The plate is inscribed: “Drawn Engraved & Published by R. P. Nodder Feby.1814.”
William Elford Leach (1790-1836) British naturalist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1816.
