Entomological studies of the Spur-legged stick insect Didymuria violescens, an insect native to Australia.
Plate 9 from The zoological miscellany; being a description of new, or interesting animals, by William Elford Leach, volume 1 (London, 1815). The author describes the insect within the text: “Inhabits New-Holland, and is figured from the splendid collection of Mr. Macleay...”
The plate is inscribed: “Drawn Engraved & Published by Rd. P. Nodder Feby 1814.”
William Elford Leach (1790-1836) British naturalist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1816.
