Description
Entomological study of the Yellow owl-fly Suhpalacsa flavipes an insect native to Australia.
Plate 20 from The zoological miscellany; being a description of new, or interesting animals, by William Elford Leach, volume 1 (London, 1815). The author describes the insect within the text: “This insect is a native New Holland, where it is found in considerable abundance.”
The plate is inscribed: “Drawn Engraved & Published by R. P. Nodder. 1814.”
William Elford Leach (1790-1836) British naturalist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1816.
