Half length portrait, seated in the chair of the Royal Academy President and holding a medallion in his left hand, the chain wrapped around his index finger.
Inscribed: “Painted by Charles Landseer. Engraved by Jas. Thomson. SIR THOMAS LAWRENCE (LATE PRESIDENT OF THE ROYAL ACADEMY.) FISHER, SON & Co. LONDON, 1831.” With a printed specimen signature. In pencil, lower left: “1822”
Sir Thomas Lawrence was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1822.
