Fig.1 – Main image. A cross-section of the whole brain showing the effect produced on the internal circulation of the brain by the obstruction of the large veins. The top left hand portion of the brain shows the effect of extreme congestion. Bright stating, ‘the minute clots, formed by the rupture of vessels, are seen most numerous about the external and interal margin of the cineritious substance.’
