Figure 1 illustrates pp.88-93, ‘An Account of an Experiment, shewing the Cause of the Descent of the Mercury in the Barometer, in a Storm’. Figure 2 illustrates pp.19-21, ‘Concerning the Attrition of Amber on Woollen in Vacuo’.

Hauksbee (ca.1660 – 1713) was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1705, and was the Society’s Curator of Experiments from 1703 to 1713.
