    Plate 1 from Histoire anatomique et physiologique d’un organe de nature vasculaire découvert dans les cétacés..., by M.G. Breschet (Paris, 1836). Headed “Face latéral gauche de la tête du Marsouin” [Left side of the head of a porpoise]. Inscribed below “A. Chazal 13 Avril 1829. Lith. de Benard, rue de l’Abbaye 4”.

    Gilbert Breschet (1784-1845) French anatomist investigated the rete mirabile in dolphins and porpoises.
