Daniel Colwall was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663, he served as its Treasurer from 1666 to 1679.
The Royal Society’s museum collection, or Repository, was established in the 1660s. The first catalogue of the Repository was produced by Nehemiah Grew in 1681, and featured a portrait of Colwall as its frontispiece; the catalogue was reissued in 1686 and 1694.
