Description
Electrostatic generator designed by John Cuthbertson (bap.1743-d.1821) for Martin van Marum and installed at Teyler’s Museum at Haarlem in the Netherlands. Shown with batteries of Leyden jars.
Plate 6 from Beschryving eene ongemeen groote electrizeer-machine geplaatst in Teyler’s Museum...by Martinus van Marum (Haarlemn, 1785).
The plate is inscribed ‘Pl. VI. B. de Bakker sculps.’
Martin van Marum was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1798.
