    Description
    A miscellany of lantern designs, including gas-lamps, for unmanned light stations. Including a candelabra-style gaslight from Trieste (figure 9) and an anchor-shaped gaslight in use on Flat Holm island in the Bristol Channel off the coast of Wales (figure 10). Ten figures in total.

    Plate 7 from Saggio di osservazioni sui mezzi atti a migliorare la construzione e l'illuminazione dei Faro con appendice sull' illuminazione dei Fari col gas by Giovanni Aldini (Milan, 1823).

    Not signed. The plate has an accompanying descriptive key.

    Giovanni Aldini (1762-1834) Italian physicist, is best-known for his experiments in galvanism but was also a pioneer in the field of lighthouse engineering.
