Description
Refrigerated water baths for penicillin fermentation tanks. Dr Rod Sirivejkul is posed by the bench unit which has three circular bath openings, part of a pilot plant for penicillin manufacture constructed by Sirivejkul in Bangkok, Thailand.
Captioned verso in ink: “fermentation tanks 30 litres dip refrigerating unit for water bath (under construction).”
Major Rod Sirivejkul was Chief of the Antibiotic Division, Army Medical Department of Siam (Thailand) based in Bangkok. He corresponded with Sir Howard Florey on penicillin supply to Siam in the period 1951-1959.
