Refrigerated water baths for penicillin fermentation tanks with air pump and filtration unit. Dr Rod Sirivejkul is posed by the equipment, part of a pilot plant for penicillin manufacture constructed by Sirivejkul in Bangkok, Thailand.
Captioned verso in ink: “fermentation tanks four in one unit with air supply and air filter (under construction).”
Major Rod Sirivejkul was Chief of the Antibiotic Division, Army Medical Department of Siam (Thailand) based in Bangkok. He corresponded with Sir Howard Florey on penicillin supply to Siam in the period 1951-1959.
