All are dressed in evening wear and appear against an office background with an electric light visible above. Brown is smoking a cigar.
The reverse has a paper label inscribed in ink with the names of the sitters and the date, ‘1913’. Lightly inscribed in pencil: ‘1851/2 & pattern’.

Sir George Keith Buller Elphinstone was Managing Director of Elliott Brothers, instrument makers.
