Half length portrait of Charles Mason, turned to the right and looking straight at viewer, wearing cassock and bands.
Inscribed ‘I Bretherton. CHARLES MASON D.D. Fellow of Trinity College & Woodwardian Professor in the University of Cambridge, Died 18th Decr. MDCCLXX. Aged LXXII. Pencilled ‘1762’ then struck out and ‘1742’, ‘1/6’.
Charles Mason was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1742.
