Half length portrait of Gerard Meerman, seated with left hand inside fur edged coat.
Inscribed ‘GERARDUS MEERMAN Reipublicae Roterodamenfis Confiliaius et Syndicus. Peint par Peronneau, grave par J Daulle, grave du Rot 1768’ and ‘GAV DEANT BENE NATI’ on ribbon around the crest beneath the portrait. Pencilled ‘1760’.
Gerard Meerman was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1760.
