Head and shoulders portrait of Isaac Newton, in a wig and open shirt. In an oval frame on a plinth decorated with laurel and circular plaque containing classical scene. A pyramid structure and clouds are visible behind. Further instruments and scrolls in the foreground.
Inscribed ‘G. Kneller pinxt. Wm. Sharp sculpt. Sr. ISAAC NEWTON. Published by G. Kearsly, No.46 Fleet Street'.
Sir Isaac Newton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672, he served as its President from 1703 to 1727.
