    Inscribed ‘C. Cosmi dipinse; C. Raimondi inc. nello Studio Toschi; LEOPOLDO NOBILI Fisico’ and pencilled ‘From Sir E. Sabine’s Collection’.

    Leopoldo Nobili was not a Fellow of the Royal Society, he was an Italian physicist who invented a number of instruments critical to investigating thermodynamics and electrochemistry.
