Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Thomas Nott, he wears wig with lace cravat and gown. Crest beneath portrait with a knights helmet, crowned dove with laurel sprig in beak and ribbon scroll above.
Inscribed ‘R White ad vivum 1678. Sr Thomas Nott Knt, One of the gentleman ushers in ordinary of the Honble privy chamber to his Present Ma the King Charles the Second. Published as the Actdirects August 1st 1794 by W Richardson Castle Street Leicester Square’. ‘PACEM ET CORONATUM’ in ribbon scroll. Pencilled 1663’ bottom left.
Sir Thomas Nott was an original Fellow of the Royal Society, elected in 1663 he was later expelled in 1675 for non payment of his subscription.
