Description
Natural history studies of aquatic crustaceans. Figures 1-3. Cyclops quadricornis at actual size and under magnification with a detail of the appendage for locomotion. The accompanying text describes the specimen as ‘‘The four-horned Cyclops, or small Water Flea’. Figure 4. Antennae detail of Cyclops rubens. Figures 5-6. Metacyclops minutus magnified and with a detail of respiratory organs. The accompanying text describes this specimen as ‘The small Cyclops, or Vaulter, Cyclops minutus’.

Object history
Andrew Pritchard (1804-1882) was a British microscopist who produced microscopes with lenses ground from diamond and other gemstones, selling these and microscope slides. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
