Inscribed ‘Dr. Robert Plot. From an original in the Bodleian Gallery, Oxford. Pub Sep. 1.1802 by S Harding, 127 Pall Mall.’ and pencilled ‘1677’.
Robert Plot was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1677, he was Secretary from 1682-1684 and on the Council in 1680, 1682-1683, 1687-1688, 1692 and 1694.
