Head and shoulder portrait of Samuel Thomas Sommering, turned to the left and looking straight at viewer. He wears high collared jacket with light waistcoat and cravat.
Inscribed ‘SEL. TAS. SOMMERING. Jal. Comp. Du D.D.S.M. C.L.F. Panckoucke Editeur’ and pencilled ‘Died[?] 1831’.
Samuel Thomas Sommering was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1827.
