Description
Half-length portrait of Benjamin Woodroffe, turned to the right as viewed and looking back at viewer. He wears gown with bands and has shoulder length hair. In an oval frame on entablature with heraldic badge of three stag charge and helm.
Inscribed ‘R White ad Vivium. de lin et sculpsit. B. Woodroffe S.T.P Canonic Aedis Christi Oxon. [?]. n magnis voluisse sat est’ and pencilled ‘1668’.
Benjamin Woodroffe was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1668.
