    Half-length portrait of Colin Maclaurin, turned to the right as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears cape with braided detailing, ruffled shirt, and shoulder length wig. In an oval frame.

    Inscribed in ink ‘Colin Maclaurin FRS' and pencilled ‘1719’.

    Colin Maclaurin was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1719.
