Description
Half-length portrait of George William Manby, facing forward and looking off the the left as viewed. Wearing military uniform (Manby was Captain in the Cambridgeshire militia) and holding a highly decorated sabre.
Inscribed ‘George William Manby Esqr. Engraved for the European Magazine by T. Blood from an Original Painting by S. Lane. London – Published by J Asperne Cornhill 1st August 1813’ and pencilled ‘1831’.
George William Manby was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1831.
