Description
Head and shoulders portrait of William Marsden, turned to the right as viewed and looking straight to viewer. He wears jacket, waistcoat, white shirt, and tie.
Inscribed ‘WILLIAM MARSDEN, F.R.S.&c&c.’ and pencilled ‘1783’.
William Marsden was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1783, he was treasurer from 1802-1810 and vice president from 1803-1810.
