Description
Half-length portrait of John Merewether, turned to the left as viewed and looking off to distance. He has long side whiskers and wears high collared coat with white tie.
Inscribed ‘WH[?]. THE VERY REV. DR. MEREWETHER, DEAN OF HEREFORD.’ and pencilled ‘Elected 1838’.
John Merewether was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1838.
