Head and shoulders portrait of Alexander Monro, turned to the left as viewed and looking back to viewer. He wears gown over jacket with white shirt and shoulder length wig. In an oval frame.
Inscribed ‘ALEXANDER MONRO, M.D. F.R.S. Born in Scottland 1697’ and pencilled ‘e 1723’.
Alexander Monro was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1723.
