    Head and shoulders portrait of John Ray, turned to the right as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears cassock, bands and shoulder length wig.

    Inscribed on separate paper ‘John Ray, F.R.S’.

    John Ray was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1667.
