                                Half-length portrait of Richard Richardson, turned to the left as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears full length wig and lace necktie. Oval in rectangular frame.  
Inscribed ‘Jas Basire, sculp. RICHARD RICHARDSON, M.D. & F.R.S. Born in 1663, died in 1741. From an Original Painting in the Possession of his Great Granddaughter Miss Frances Mary Richardson Currers of Eshton Hall' and pencilled ‘1712’.
Richard Richardson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1712.
