    Head and shoulders portrait of Alexander Russell, turned to the left as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears shoulder length wig, collarless jacket and lace necktie. In an oval frame.

    Inscribed ‘ALEXANDER RUSSELL M.D: F.R.S:’ and pencilled ‘1756’.

    Alexander Russell was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1756.
