Description
Three-quarter length portrait of John Russell, leaning on plinth to left and looking off to distance. He wears peers robes with mantle and chain of office.
Inscribed ‘John Russell, Duke of Bedford. From the original of Sir Joshua Reynolds in the Collection of His Grace the Duke of Bedford. Drawn by Wm Derby and engraved (with permission) by H Robinson.’ and pencilled ‘1741’.
John Russell was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1741.
