    Description
    Half-length portrait of Friedrich Ruysch, facing forward and looking to viewer. He wears long wig, gown and falling collar.

    Inscribed ‘FREDERIC RUYSCH, M.D. F.R.S.’ with facsimile signature and date, and pencilled ‘1715’.

    Friedrick Ruysch was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1715.
