    Head and shoulders portrait of Paul Rycaut, turned to the right as viewed and looking back to viewer, he wears long wig and gown. In an oval frame on a pedestal with coat of arms.

    Inscribed ‘Paul Rycaut Esq late Consul of Smyrna & Fellow of the Royall Societie’ and pencilled ‘1666’.

    Sir Paul Rycaut was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1666.
