Head and shoulders portrait of John Sawbridge, head turned in three-quarter profile to right.
Inscribed ‘Hopwood sculp. ALDERMAN SAWBRIDGE’ and pencilled ‘1739’.
John Sawbridge was not a Fellow of the Royal Society, he was Alderman of London and son of John Sawbridge (1699-1762) F.R.S.
