    Description
    Half-length portrait of Charles Scarburgh, turned slightly to the right as viewed with left hand on breast. He wears doublet and gown with long wig and slender moustache.

    Inscribed ‘SIR CHARLES SCARBOROUGH’ Physician to Charles II. James II & William III’ and pencilled ‘1663’.

    Charles Scarburgh was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663 and expelled in 1666.
