Half-length portrait of William Smith, in left three quarter profile. He wears regency-style clothing of coat, waistcoat, ruffled shirt and dark cravat.
Inscribed ‘PL.1. Fourau. pinxt. T.A. Dean. sculpt. Wm. Smith L.L.D. aged 69’.
William Smith was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1806.
